The national guidance on face mask wearing in health care settings has changed. Many local health providers, including the Derby and Chesterfield hospitals and Derbyshire Community Health Service, have responded by changing their mask wearing policies.
The policy at Hannage Brook Medical Centre is changing too, as of Monday 27th June. Mask wearing for patients is now optional, unless you fall into one of the following groups, who are still required to wear a face mask:
- If you have cough or cold symptoms
- If you have known or suspected COVID-19
If the doctor bringing you down for the appointment has advised you to wear a face mask
In addition to the groups above, if you have been told that you are clinically extremely vulnerable then we would strongly recommend that you continue to wear a face mask.
Likewise, staff members will only be required to wear a mask in some situations; if you would like the health care professional you are seeing to wear a mask please tell reception on arrival or the health care professional at the start of your consultation.
Please remember that if you have symptoms that could mean you have COVID-19, wearing a mask and regular hand washing are the best ways of preventing transmission to others, including the many frail and vulnerable people we see at the surgery.
Like all our COVID-19 and other infection control policies, this policy will be reviewed regularly in line with national guidance and local guidance.
