Face Coverings Update

Cases of COVID-19 across the country are rising dramatically as part of the latest wave of the ongoing pandemic, driven by the new Omicron BA4 and BA5 variants.

The percentage of the Derbyshire population with COVID-19 is higher than average for the East Midlands, and approaching the level seen in London, which is the region with the proportionally greatest case numbers in the whole UK.

At Hannage Brook Medical Centre, around 1 in 5 of our workforce were unable to come to work last week because of COVID-19 infection.

Because of the current local COVID-19 picture, and the recommendation made to all healthcare providers on 8th July by NHS England, we are reverting to universal masking, with effect from Monday 11th July.

This means that all patients coming to surgery need to come wearing a mask (reusable fabric face coverings are acceptable). You should consider booking telephone appointments instead of face to face appointments, and attend alone where possible.

Thank you for keeping our community safe – and our practice working – by following this guidance.
