Patient Participation Group

The Hannage Brook Patient Participation Group (PPG) was formally constituted in September 2012. It works closely with the medical centre to give patients a voice in its organisation and establishing its priorities. Wirksworth is fortunate in that it has a medical practice committed to making sure its patients are involved in decisions about the range and quality of services on offer. It is important that patients play a part in developing this partnership.

The group is active in keeping abreast of NHS developments by liaising with the local SOS NHS group and the SDCCG. The committee organises about three evening meetings a year on a range of topics, the more recent of which have included Clinical Research, help yourself to good health, Dementia Friends and Music for Health.

In addition, the PPG worked hard to petition the SDCCG to save the funding for minor injuries (Spring 2016) along with helping at flu clinics, premises audits, supporting HB initiatives, such as “last orders”, “Under Fives”, “Men’s health event” as well as being closely involved with the inspection. There are many more events and evenings planned.

A number of successful support groups have arisen from the PPG:

  • AF (arterial fibrillation)
  • Diabetes
  • Memory Café
  • WISH (mental health)
  • Doing more for Dementia in Wirksworth.

Membership is very straightforward either “virtual” through email/post and/or by actively attending our meetings. Information gained through patient feedback is very important for the continued success of the practice. So do join us, have your say, learn more about important health matters and behind the scenes at HBMC!

We’d love to hear your views on the practice!

Our Patient Participation Group (PPG) meetings are held regularly throughout the year and those patients who have attended have said how useful and informative they have been. We are always keen to hear how we can improve our service to you and group members have put forward some very useful suggestions and ideas.

We are always delighted to welcome new group members and we are very keen to encourage those people who may not be able to attend meetings (e.g. those with work commitments or young children) but who would be willing to be contacted by email. You don’t have to attend every meeting to be a member of our PPG!
