Home Visits

Guidance for patients

Does the surgery provide home visits for patients?

The surgery provides a limited home visiting service. This is available to patients who are bed-bound or who are unable to travel to the surgery by any means, including by car, taxi or public transport.

How do I request a visit?

If you feel you need a doctor to visit, please request this by phoning the surgery, between 08:00 and 11:00. We have asked our reception team to confirm with you that you are bed-bound and/or unable to travel by any transport. If so, your visit request will be passed on to the doctors. The doctor may then phone you to assess your symptoms so please make sure you are able to take a phone call – or give our reception team the details of someone you would like to speak for you.

Why have I got to come to the surgery?

The main benefit of having your appointment take place at surgery rather than at your home is that you can be examined with proper equipment in medically appropriate conditions, by a doctor or nurse with access to your full medical records and to emergency treatments.

In addition, it means that we can offer a greater number of doctors’ appointments, by reducing the amount of time our doctors are away from the surgery travelling to and from home visits.

How do I get to the surgery by public transport?

If you would like some advice about local transport options, please ask the reception, and they will be able to help.

We are grateful for your help in keeping the surgery running smoothly.
