Ambient Voice Technology

At Hannage Brook Medical Centre our clinicians may use an Ambient Voice Technology called Heidi within your consultation.

We are committed to ensuring that this technology supports, rather than replaces, the personal and professional care we provide. Thank you for helping us explore innovative ways to improve your experience with our service.

Frequently Asked Questions

QuestionAnswer
What is Heidi? The technology has been developed to create notes relating to your consultation. This means the clinician can listen and talk to you. They don’t have to type during your appointment or spend time writing up after your appointment.
Are you recording me?No – an audio recording is not made . The technology creates notes for your clinician to review. The notes are saved for 7 days before being automatically deleted.
Is it safe?Your clinician has received training on how to use ‘ Heidi’. The clinician makes all the clinical decisions they did before . The clinician is responsible for the notes in your record. The technology simply means they can spend more time talking with you and less time typing or writing up notes
Why are you making the change?Your clinician has a short appointment time with you . They want to spend this listening to you and explaining your care to you. The technology helps them write notes and onward referrals. This can save them and our office team a lot of admin time.
Does the clinician proof read suggested notes?Your clinician is responsible for making sure that your treatment plan and notes are correctly recorded. Heidi does not insert directly into the clinical system, your clinician is responsible for the notes they post into your record.
What checks have been completed on the privacy and data protection of the technology? We take your privacy and data protection extremely seriously. Heidi is
– Fully GDPR-compliant
– Approved for use within the NHS
– Any notes are deleted after use
– Only necessary and relevant parts of your consultation are processed, and these tools do not store or share your data for any other purpose outside of clinical care.
– Approved for use by the Derbyshire Clinical Safety Officer
I don’t want Heidi to be used in my consultationIf you would prefer not to have Heidi used during your consultation, that is absolutely fine. Your clinician will ask for your consent to use Heidi at the beginning of your appointment, if you say no they will ensure the Heidi technology is not used, this will not affect your care in any way.
