Update on the British Medical Association’s Call for Action for General Practice.

Last week we promised to tell you about how Hannage Brook will respond to the British Medical Association’s Call for Action for General Practice.

Our practice leadership team were joined this morning by a representative from our Patient Participation Group, to review the information from our staff consultation, and to consider each of the BMA’s 10 suggested actions.

Though we strongly believe in the BMA’s vital work in trying to secure a future for general practice, we are not prepared to compromise the service we give you, so we are NOT going to introduce a daily cap to the number of patient contacts each GP can have. Instead we are showing our support for general practice and the BMA by adopting a small number of lesser actions related to contracts and paperwork. These will not affect your care.

You can see explanations of each suggested action here: https://www.bma.org.uk/our-campaigns/gp-campaigns/contracts/gp-contract-202425-changes (scroll down to “GP practice survival toolkit: actions to support general practice”
